From Dorm Room Brainstorms To A $10K Win: How Drexel’s Xploit Is Tackling AI Security

The rapid boom in artificial intelligence has every sector racing to deploy autonomous AI agents, but it has also opened up massive, uncharted cybersecurity vulnerabilities. Traditional firewalls simply aren’t built to secure these new enterprise attack surfaces. Looking to solve this problem is Xploit, an early-stage automated red-teaming startup founded by a tight-knit group of STEM students and alumni from Drexel University.

What started as a working prototype engineered between close friends was taken straight out of the lab and into the Philadelphia tech ecosystem. Over a single, high-intensity 48-hour sprint at United Effects Ventures’ Venture Building Weekend, the team out-pitched the competition, refining their commercial go-to-market strategy and walking away with first place and a $10,000 investment.
