My classroom: the City – its parks and natural areas, commercial corridors, transit lines, diverse neighborhoods, public schools, array of creative local entrepreneurs, vacant land and brownfields, creeks and rivers and wetlands, and its beating heart. My fascination: the untethered mind of an entrepreneur. My teaching fuels: curiosity and wonder. Career Highlights
Founded LandHealth Institute (landhealthinstitute.org), a 501(c)3 nonprofit providing unconventional, immersive, organic outdoor-based education and revitalization of ecosystems and neighborhoods. LandHealth is regularly staffed with Drexel co-ops.
Founded Put Nature Back (putnatureback.com), a nature-branded products benefit LLC dedicated to putting nature back where it once thrived. Put Nature Back is regularly staffed with Drexel co-ops.
Created and implemented the outdoor exploration and empowerment based ProFESS: the Program for Future Environmental Scientists and Stewards.
Led the creation and establishment of a native plant nursery (LandHealth Native Plants), built atop vacant land in West Parkside, Philadelphia.
Led the planning, design, and/or construction of several ecologically restored public natural areas, including Sycamore Island (Pittsburgh PA), Chestnut Grove Natural Area (Lancaster PA), Longwood Gardens Meadow Garden and Route 52 Relocation & Restoration (Kennett Square PA), Washington Avenue Pier/Pier 53 (Philadelphia PA), and Cobbs Creek Park Meadows and Riparian Area Between the SEPTA Bridge and Florence Avenue (Philadelphia and Yeadon PA).
