I’m Not Trying To Be Difficult – Lessons In Hospitality

March 2 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

What does it take to build a culinary empire, pivot a brand during a pandemic, and maintain the highest standards of service for over a decade? Join us for a conversation on the meaning of hospitality with two of the Northeast’s most influential voices in food.

We are honored to welcome Drew Nieporent, the legendary restaurateur behind the Myriad Restaurant Group. As the co-founder of Nobu (with Robert De Niro) and the creative brain behind New York landmarks like Tribeca Grill and Montrachet, Drew has spent 40 years working in the world of fine dining and innovative restaurant business. He will share insights from his career and his new memoir, I’m Not Trying to Be Difficult.

Joining him is Kiki Aranita, a James Beard-nominated writer, chef, and entrepreneur. After seven years as the co-chef and owner of Philadelphia’s beloved Poi Dog, Kiki successfully transitioned the brand into a retail sauce company found in Whole Foods and other grocers nationwide. As a columnist for The Philadelphia Inquirer and Fine Dining Lovers, Kiki brings a modern perspective on brand evolution, storytelling, and culinary entrepreneurship.

Whether you are an aspiring restaurateur, a retail entrepreneur, or a student leader, this session offers a rare look at how to navigate the “trenches” of the hospitality industry and build a brand that lasts.
